The job most CISSP candidates underestimate
Most CISSP questions have two technically correct answers. The marked one is the answer a risk-focused manager would choose: protect people first, follow policy and process, involve senior management, and prefer the option that addresses the root cause over the quick technical fix. A study order that works
- Read the outline and watch the MindMaps to see the shape of all eight domains before going deep.
- Work through the Official Study Guide, domain by domain, with the practice questions after each chapter.
- Sit full-length papers from the halfway point, and review every miss for the manager's reasoning.
- Book the exam when you clear the pass mark on unseen papers with margin. The readiness test sets the bar before you risk the $749 fee.
The exam you sit today
The English CISSP is a Computerized Adaptive Test of 100 to 150 items in up to three hours, passed at 700 on a 1,000-point scale. The outline in force has been unchanged since 15 April 2024, and ISC2 has not announced a refresh for 2027. Certification also needs five years of cumulative paid experience in two or more of the eight domains, or four with a qualifying degree or approved credential.
